So let's get this straight. More than 72,000 people clicked "like" on this Farcebook ad for a well-known appliance maker. So this appliance maker can no doubt get their contact info and can maybe sell them a new appliance. Bingo Bango Bongo.
Bob's yer uncle.
Liking is an emotion. It is a way we feel, a mechanism advertisers use for how we feel about a product or activity. They aren't stupid.
It is nothing but a Farcebook handy way for us, rather than spend 30 seconds of our lives typing out the words "I like that," and here's why, to avoid spending MORE time worrying about the next mortgage payment or paying off a credit card bill.
Outa mind...
If we don't think about things, we don't have to solve them if they're problems. We don't HAVE to get the car fixed. We don't HAVE to clean the house. We don't HAVE to go for a run around the block.
Farcebook is the new TV. Instead of watching the pap on TV, we can go on Farcebook and say that we are "intellectually" being stimulated. We might be turning into Jabba The Hutt, but that's a minor point.
You gotta watch that FB all the time....they're constantly trying to make a buck off FBers. Every time you turn around... a new ploy! Still....FB is definitely more interactive than TV and sometimes, often, depending on how you feel that day, can be very "spirited." Which isn't something you can say about the tube...less'n you're watching some terrible movie like the "Tree of Life" where the writers have forgotten to write dialogue and you have to supply your own. That's best done with a friend.
ReplyDeleteRobin: It's ALL about the buck. But I must admit, it IS more reactive than blogging and it's more in the here and now. The only thing blogging has over Farcebook, that I can see, is it lets long-winded old farts like me talk at length about the good old days. Farcebook gives you a nice & tidy little box.
