Occupying 2011

It got tiring. After a while, I was making jokes about Occupying my bathroom. But it was the thing that was most noteworthy about 2011. It was like Four Dead in Ohio. But I'm sure it made Fat Cats the world over sit up and take notice.

The way I see it, when it all comes down to the basics, they shit the same way I do.

I'm not part of this movement, but I'm proud of the people who are.

There ARE stupid things about it, no doubt. But the premise of the movement is hard to argue with. There IS the 99 per cent. Then there's the one per cent. And our young people, thank God for them, have basically done what WE wouldn't do.

The 99 per cent is taking on the one per cent.

Good for them.

Click "Like"

Like · 72,432 people like this.
So let's get this straight. More than 72,000 people clicked "like" on this Farcebook ad for a well-known appliance maker. So this appliance maker can no doubt get their contact info and can maybe sell them a new appliance. Bingo Bango Bongo.

Bob's yer uncle.

Liking is an emotion. It is a way we feel, a mechanism advertisers use for how we feel about a product or activity. They aren't stupid.

It is nothing but a Farcebook handy way for us, rather than spend 30 seconds of our lives typing out the words "I like that," and here's why, to avoid spending MORE time worrying about the next mortgage payment or paying off a credit card bill.

Outa mind...

If we don't think about things, we don't have to solve them if they're problems. We don't HAVE to get the car fixed. We don't HAVE to clean the house. We don't HAVE to go for a run around the block.

Farcebook is the new TV. Instead of watching the pap on TV, we can go on Farcebook and say that we are "intellectually" being stimulated. We might be turning into Jabba The Hutt, but that's a minor point.

Legends

THIS is a legend.

Below is the modern-day dictionary meaning of a legend.
1. a popular story handed down from earlier times whose truth has not been ascertained
2. a group of such stories: the Arthurian legend
3. a modern story that has taken on the characteristics of a traditional legendary tale
4. a person whose fame or notoriety makes him a source of exaggerated or romanticized tales or exploits
5. an inscription or title, as on a coin or beneath a coat of arms
6. explanatory matter accompanying a table, map, chart, etc
7. a story of the life of a saint

NOT what the TV weenies tell you. Nothing that happened yesterday, last year, last century or last minute, as the TV weenies, particularly mindless sportscasters, would have you believe, is a legend or is legendary.

It has become, in the mindless pap of TV that seems so acceptable nowadays, another overused and improperly used word to mean significant and memorable talent that we all should or do consider as a legend in our own time.

It is mindless TV pap designed to save time. You or I could be legends in our own time if it meant they could save another 30 seconds to show that ad we've all seen a million times.

A LOL world

It's a LOL world.

Things just IS the way they are. We can try to analyse and be a shrink all we want.

The hills AREN'T alive with the sound of music. That kind of innocent idealism is so long ago and far away.

It's been replaced by a "What -- ME Worry?" thing. Apathy. It's all too hard to figure out, so we don't even try.

Our brains, instead of adoring symbols like JFK and doing things that are truly inspiring, are getting caught up in the "Occupy" movement and its like. It's like we are in a suspended state of animation, like Hymie The Robot on Get Smart.

When things got too hard for him to handle or too difficult for him to compute, smoke would come out of his ears and he'd shut down. We don't shut down. Or in a way, maybe we do. We just pretend we understand it all and go along with it.

Yes, the hills ARE indeed alive with the Sound of Music.
I added the beautiful buxom blonde above simply because I am a shallow male who now expects ALL women to not only look like this, but want to be with me. Doh! Like I said, IT IS a LOL world.
